Whole School Assistant Headteacher (Data, Reporting and Assessment) and ICT Teacher

I have been at Star since January 2021 joining as a Computing teacher and Pastoral Lead for Secondary moving to an Assistant Headteacher position for the whole school. From my first moment at Star Mirdif, I have felt how wonderful a school this is. Our teachers, students and parents are part of one large family from our youngest in EYFS to our oldest in Sixth Form. I have especially enjoyed building strong relations with students and parents. Seeing our enthusiastic and delightful students grow towards young adults as they take every opportunity offered to them is incredibly rewarding. It is exciting knowing how far our students can go as the school continues to grow.

I graduated from Loughborough University in the UK with a BSc Hons in Information Management and Computing. During my studies, I had been working as a Freelance Web Developer so when I graduated I moved into this full time working with design agencies in the Midlands. At this time I volunteered as a Business Advisor in the Young Enterprise scheme. It was here that I identified a passion for supporting and educating students. I achieved my PGCSe and QTS at Nottingham Trent University in 2010 and started teaching at one of the schools I trained at.

I have been teaching for 13 years. For just over a decade I taught at an Outstanding school in Nottingham in the UK. Being at the same school for 10 years was a wonderful experience. I built strong relationships with families seeing their children grow from Year 7 to Year 13 and go to university as young adults. At this school, I had different academic and pastoral roles and gained a huge amount of experience in these roles. Additionally, I was key in pushing the use of technology, especially Google for Education. Next year at Star Mirdif I will continue to manage our external assessments, including our first Year 12 exams, and reporting across all phases of the school. A major focus for me in the future is integrating several new IT systems as part of the ISP schools group that will support the further development of the school.

Away from school, I am a keen rugby and ice hockey fan. Whilst this mostly involves watching these sports broadcast from Europe and North America, I particularly enjoy the Dubai Rugby 7s. I enjoy travelling with friends and family, recently discovering Cyprus as a wonderful place to visit.
