Wellbeing

At Star International School, Mirdif, students benefit from a strong focus on wellbeing, with evolving support programmes that nurture positive mental health and emotional growth. Through mindfulness, circle time and dedicated sessions, students feel valued and supported, enabling them to thrive academically and personally.

Nurturing emotional wellbeing

Students improve their emotional wellbeing through the Zones of Regulation programme, where they learn to identify emotions, recognise triggers and practise self-regulation strategies. Consistent language and strong links between home and school support their development, while hands-on activities make learning engaging. The Leuven Scale enables staff to monitor wellbeing and ensure that every student feels safe, valued and included.

Supporting every student

Students at Star School, Mirdif learn to make their wellbeing a priority. From Primary school onwards, children use Pulse to 'check in' for support. The pastoral team tailors care based on weekly insights, while a dedicated counsellor offers confidential sessions, social-emotional lessons and parent workshops to foster a supportive and inclusive environment.

Learning support

Students are strongly supported through our commitment to inclusivity, with assistance provided to all, including those with learning needs, gifted and talented and EAL learners. They benefit from close collaboration between parents and teachers, enabling them to reach their full potential in a safe, welcoming environment where they are valued as individuals.

The sensory room

Students engage in dedicated spaces where the inclusion team works with them in smaller groups, offering tailored sessions that support individual growth. By delivering targeted support, students remain part of their core curriculum while inclusion is prioritized. School's Learning Support Assistants focus on enhancing social skills and physical development, empowering students to achieve their personal goals.

EAL support

Students and their parents are supported in English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes through group and one-to-one sessions led by a team of teachers fluent in English, Arabic and Chinese. They benefit from bespoke English learning plans and Flash Academy. Teachers work together to pre-teach vocabulary and ensure classroom integration. The programme caters for a wide range of nationalities and future plans include staff training and a workshop for parents.
