Head of Inclusion

I am pleased to be entering my second year as Head of Inclusion at Star International School, Mirdif. The school offers amazing learning opportunities and personalised pathways for all of our students, allowing them to reach their personal best. I work closely with families to instill high aspirations, encouraging them to be advocates of their children’s learning success. In the short time I have worked at the school I can see positive changes and improvements across all phases of the school.

I graduated with a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics and went on to achieve a PGCE with QTS. I also hold the National Award for SENCOs and I am currently in my final year of studying MSc Psychology, which has supported my own continued professional development for the past 2 years. I am excited to be leading our Inclusion Teachers and Learning Support Assistants this year as well as working alongside the Teachers and Middle Leaders across all phases of the school.

I have worked in education for over 10 years and I have been proactive in raising standards of achievement across 3 different UK schools. Having worked in pastoral, inclusion and curriculum roles I have a good understanding around the strategic direction and growth of the inclusion department, particularly for our Students of Determination and English Language Learners. I am looking forward to developing our Gifted and Talented provision this academic year, and working closely with teachers to ensure all of our students achieve above and beyond in areas where they are gifted or talented.

In my spare time I enjoy reading and learning about other cultures and diversity amongst communities. I enjoy living in Dubai and visiting different countries in the UAE.
